OUR PURPOSE
TAIORA exists to empower students, teachers and whānau to be more calm, engaged and resilient through online and in-person mental health training.
There are thousands of young people in Aotearoa who are suffering in silence without mental health support.
Our teachers, whānau and youthworkers are at the frontline no matter the subject they teach, they need the tools to deal with life's challenges, and in turn to create a country built on resilience.

TAIORA -
The tide of well-being
“Ko te kiato i te taiora” - Travelling the vessel of wellness
This whakatauki recognises the bigger journey of wellness and maintaining balance, it also acknowledges the goodness each individual has and the areas that they possibly need to grow. ‘Kiato’ is the particular part on the waka that maintains/stabilises balance. It recognises that we are all on this journey to wellness, but balance in ngākau(heart), wairua(spirit), mind(hinengaro) and tinana(body) is always essential.
TAIORA is an evidence-based online training program giving teachers and parents the skills to support young people through mental health challenges.

Kia ora! I LOVE supporting people to bring practical Mindfulness tools into even the busiest of lives. I work with individuals, businesses, schools, educators and health professionals to decrease stress and to increase happiness, focus and creativity. I believe that Mindfulness is for everyone, and I’m a big fan of making it accessible, fun and inclusive.
I have spent more than a decade working with marginalised communities facing stress and trauma in Aotearoa and around the world. Having experienced Mindfulness, Yoga and The Work of Byron Katie as profoundly effective in overcoming challenges in my own life and the lives of others, I founded The Kindness Institute in 2016, a not-for-profit organisation hell-bent on creating a world where everyone has the tools to manage stress and live meaningful lives.
By practicing Mindfulness, you are developing a kinder relationship with yourself and laying the foundation for a kinder relationship with all of those around you. Thank you for starting this haerenga!
